Our services
Roberto Di Donato Architecture is a RIBA Chartered Practice established in London in 2014 and delivering Architecture and Design projects in the UK as well as overseas.
Our work ranges from commercial projects to individual homes and bespoke furniture. We provide complete architectural service from concept design, statutory approvals, construction drawings and specification, procurement, and management on-site.
Our office is based in the heart of Dalston and over the years we built a successful record in securing planning permission across all of London, creating healthy relationships with planning authorities.
In our office we speak fluently English, Italian and Spanish and our portfolio includes projects in Italy, Spain and South America.
Philosophy
Our goal is to create architecture that is thoughtful and considered. We believe good architecture is achievable in every site and for every client regardless of the budget.
The core belief of the studio is that architecture is not an inspirational activity. Good projects do not begin with a design solution, they begin with the development of a strategy, to ultimately successfully give form and body to client’s brief, wishes and personality.
Rather than on developing a set of stylistic mannerisms, we base our work on the design process itself, seeking the beauty in clever, simple and sensitive responses to the everyday problems of our lives.
We believe that a good relationship with the client results in a good project, so we place great importance on the client’s involvement through all the stages of the design process.
Behind any existing human creation there is a design choice. Unfortunately, most of the time there is even an involuntary choice. The result is sometimes exquisite, sometimes disastrous…
Random actions will always provide random results… The design process is the most precious tool that we own to shape and control the outcome of any creation, to make sure that any material, financial and physical resource is invested to achieve excellence.
About Roberto Di Donato
Italian born Architect Roberto Di Donato founded the practice RDD Architecture in 2014. Prior to that he worked for the world-renowned architectural office Foster+Partners involved in the construction documentation phase of projects in UAE, China and Australia. Working in multidisciplinary teams he gained extensive technical experience in commercial as well as residential buildings.
Before moving to the UK Roberto collaborated with Milan based Atelier Lupini Machado (current Oitoo) involved in small scale residential projects and in the reuse of public buildings in Switzerland.
One of the most important milestones in his career was strait after his graduation from “Politecnico di Milano”.
As a freshly graduated Architect Roberto joined the office of the guru of minimalist architecture Caludio Silvestrin. In his office he got involved in high end retail and residential projects, achieving technical experience while nourishing his passion for minimalism and learning to elegantly use the materials, space and light.
A turning point in Roberto’s formation was his year exchange at the “Universidad Politecnica de Valencia” in Spain. During his time in Spain Roberto could learn a new language and discover a totally different approach to architecture. But more importantly he unconsciously dropped the foundation to the current relationship that his office has with foreigner countries such as Spain and South America.
